Data-informed Leadership: Improving Student Success by Doing More with Less

Educational leaders are provided with data in many forms and from multiple sources. Their faculty, staff, and administrators also are overwhelmed with data. Yet, time after time we hear from these leaders that they rarely are able to identify what’s important to use the data effectively to move the needle on student success; that it seems they are always playing catch-up with data. This webinar will provide educational leaders with the tools for turning data into information that is useful, usable, and actionable. Grounded in the concept of leading and lagging indicators, educational leaders will learn how to reduce the number of metrics they monitor and for which they hold their teams accountable. The result will be heightened focus on metrics that lead to student success and can be impacted with research-based strategies to improve instruction, student supports, and policies.

Presenter: Jordan E. Horowitz (EPFP '92-93), Vice President, Institute for Evidence-Based Change, and co-author of Creating a Data-Informed Culture in Community Colleges: A New Model for Educators (Harvard Education Press, 2017).
