Dear EPFP Alum,

This is a special year for the Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) – we are 50 years old. This anniversary celebrates over 8,000 alumni but also is an occasion for IEL to look to the future and consider how we can strengthen the program for the thousands of new fellows that will be partaking in this unique leadership development experience in the next 50 years.

In this context, I want you to know about the EPFP staffing changes that IEL is making with the intent of growing and strengthening EPFP as a central program of the Institute. With the support of the EPFP site coordinators, we have assigned Helen Malone to guide the national EPFP work. Helen will work closely with Stefani Wilcox, EPFP program coordinator, and Betty Hale, IEL’s senior fellow, to strengthen alumni and fellow connections and to grow and develop EPFP. I will continue to provide leadership and guidance to EPFP.

Helen is now IEL’s Director of Institutional Advancement. She brings years of experience in education policy and leadership, overseeing and supporting national leadership and educational initiatives. She has most recently published an edited book, Leading Educational Change (Teachers College Press) on global issues and perspectives on system-level change. Helen holds an Ed.D. from Harvard University in Education Policy, Leadership, and Instructional Practice.

Please join me in welcoming Helen to the EPFP family. Good wishes may be sent to maloneh@iel.org. As always, I welcome your feedback about EPFP and others aspects of IEL's work.

Cordially,
Martin J Blank Signature
