The California site of IEL’s Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP), a professional development initiative for leaders in education policy and related fields, selected its inaugural Fellows for 2016-17. These 20 California leaders from K-12 and higher education, executive and legislative branches of government, and education policy-related nonprofits will participate in the nine-month program to expand their knowledge of education and related policy, grow their leadership skills, and expand their professional networks.

“California EPFP is focused on building Fellows’ capacity to lead as systems thinkers,” said Andrea Venezia, executive director of the Education Insights Center (EdInsights), an education policy center at Sacramento State that is jointly leading the program with Sacramento State’s Center for California Studies.

“We’ve brought together a diverse group of influential education leaders from across California,” said Steve Boilard, executive director of the Center for California Studies. “This program will strengthen this group’s ability to improve education policy and practice in our state.”

California EPFP joins 15 other sites around the country working with IEL to build education leaders who work across boundaries. California EPFP is supported by grants from The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
