Since 1976, the Massachusetts EPFP has served over 400 individuals seeking to enhance their leadership and public policy knowledge and skills in education and related fields. Fellows are drawn from a variety of fields, including school principals and other school personnel, state and district leaders, and representatives of non-profit organizations. The program is organized around three major elements:

Leadership: Through the EPFP experience, fellows learn about their own leadership style as well as models of leadership prominent in the education and human services fields.

Public Policy: Fellows gain an understanding of the public policy context and process at the local, state, and national levels, including how they can impact policymaking.

Building Professional Networks: Fellows have numerous opportunities to connect with other EPFP participants in Massachusetts as well as fellows in other state EPFP sites, facilitating information-sharing and career advancement.

The program year begins with an overnight retreat and includes monthly sessions that focus on different aspects of educational leadership and policy. Fellows also visit the Massachusetts State House to hear from state policymakers. Program meetings and events feature experts in the field who share presentations, workshops, informal discussions, and simulations, while also offering opportunities for constructive and enlightening conversations on education policy issues.
Additional information is available on on their website.
